Visiting Nepal in June 2026 in preparation for the Possible Now #ShiftThePower Summit was exciting and exhilarating. At the same time, I felt an overwhelming connection with nature, so overwhelming that I had to look up how much of the country is covered by dense forest, and it’s a whopping 43%! Back home here in Kenya, where sadly only 8% of the land wears forest, that number stayed with me. I have since developed an intentional practice of staying in tune with nature: whether sitting on my balcony watching the trees, wandering into the forests in my neighbourhood, or simply finding a bench outside to sit on, the way I am doing as I write this.

Nepal invited me to return to nature as a co-conspirator of space, peace and flow. The vastness of the hills. The trees, the endless green stretching across Kathmandu and Bhaktapur, the changing landscapes throughout the flight and during the landing, reminded me that possibility is everywhere around us, we just have to notice it. Sometimes that means nothing more than a walk, or sitting under a tree and simply being.

So on the Road to Kathmandu, I have been spending more time outdoors, and dragging my friends along. I take my laptop to my favourite picnic spots. I am creating more whether through knitting, crocheting, painting, collage-making, colouring or writing, and choosing colours that ground me in my surroundings. I am noticing more, and I am making sure my feet feel planted on the ground.

I hope the Summit synthesizes these feelings for me and for others, into something that makes collective sense-making possible and alive. One reflection from this movement is how much dominant systems rely on separation to keep the machine turning, like the monotone office spaces we all know too well, or the rigid, agenda-driven meetings we may struggle to feel connected in, and so on. Possible Now / #ShiftThePower invite us to believe that there are other ways to move through life and work, ways that involve flow: where a team meeting can happen in a forest, where vastness can be found even beyond what we already know. We don’t need to be afraid. We just need to talk, to connect, to ask each other what is alive in our minds and in our dreams.

I hope we all arrive at the Summit with open hearts and a curiosity for what lies beyond what we know, and what we think we ought to know. Until then, I hope you get to spend a little more time outdoors too, you might just see something extraordinary and inspiring. And if you get a daytime flight to Kathmandu, please book the window seat! You will thank me later. See you very soon in Kathmandu!
